
Spicy Margarita with Jalapeño

Ingredients
Jalapeño syrup (enough for about 6 drinks)
- 1 ml water
- 85 g granulated sugar
- 1 fresh jalapeño, sliced
- 1 pinch of salt
Margarita (1 drink)
- 50 ml tequila (about 47–48 g)
- 30 ml freshly squeezed lime juice (30 g)
- 20 ml jalapeño syrup (≈20 g)
- 10 ml Cointreau or Triple Sec (≈10 g)
- Ice
- Salt + a little chili powder
- 1 jalapeño slice
- 1 lime wedge
Follow these steps
- Start by making the syrup. Bring the water, sugar, and sliced jalapeño to a boil in a small saucepan.
- Simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sugar has dissolved and the syrup turns slightly green.
- Remove from heat and let it steep for 15–20 minutes. Strain out the jalapeño and let the syrup cool completely.
- Prepare the glass by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim of a lowball glass. Dip the rim in a mixture of salt and a little chili powder.
- Attach the blender to your assistent.. Add tequila, lime juice, jalapeño syrup, Cointreau, and a few ice cubes.
- Strain into the prepared glass filled with ice. Garnish with a fresh jalapeño slice and a lime wedge.
